MMed. Kateryna Semenovykh from the Laboratory of Biological Rhythms of IPHYS has received an award from the Purkyně Foundation Fund for the best scientific paper published in 2025 in the category Theoretical disciplines. She received the award on 15 September at the Waldstein Palace in Prague.
She was recognised for her first-author study, Tert Deletion Impairs Circadian Regulation of Blood Pressure in Male Spontaneously Hypertensive Rats, published in the journal Hypertension. The study investigates the relationship among the Tert gene, the biological clock, and blood pressure regulation.
The findings showed that deletion of the Tert gene disrupts the natural day–night variation in blood pressure. The study therefore contributes to a better understanding of how the biological clock affects blood pressure and how its disruption may be linked to hypertension and other cardiovascular diseases.
The Purkyně Foundation Fund, established by the Czech Medical Association of Jan Evangelista Purkyně, supports early-career scientists and physicians under 35. The publication competition assesses not only the journal’s impact factor, but also the overall quality of the submitted papers. This year, 15 publications were entered in the category Theoretical disciplines.
We warmly congratulate Kateryna Semenovykh on this significant achievement and wish her every success in her future scientific work.
