Mechanisms responsible for seizure initiation and termination

Seizures represent the main symptom of epilepsy.

The aim of our research is to elucidate the cellular and network mechanisms involved in seizure initiation and termination. We also focus on the understanding of the functional organization of the epileptic foci. We study the long-term dynamics of epileptic activity and mechanisms which are responsible for long-term fluctuations of seizure susceptibility. In this research we closely collaborate with experts on complex system dynamics and complex networks.
