The <a href=\"https:\/\/nf-iocbtech.cz\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IOCB Tech Foundation<\/a> has awarded <a href=\"https:\/\/nf-iocbtech.cz\/en\/news\/114\/martina-roeselova-memorial-fellowship-will-support-10-young-scientists-in-2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ten new grant recipients who will receive stipend of 150,000 CZK in 2025<\/a>. One of the recipients is Barbora Hr\u010dka Krausov\u00e1 from the Institute of Physiology of the CAS.<\/p>\n<p>The fellowship is aimed at postgraduate students and postdoctoral researchers actively working in the field of natural sciences at universities and non-university research institutions in the Czech Republic who are also caregivers to preschool-aged children. This financial support is intended to cover childcare services, enabling these scientists to continue their studies or research without losing touch with the global scientific community during early parenthood.<\/p>\n<p>Barbora Hr\u010dka Krausov\u00e1 is a neuroscientist at the Institute of Physiology of the Czech Academy of Sciences and a mother of 2 young children. Her research focuses on glutamate receptors, particularly the NMDA subtype, which are abundant in the brain and play a crucial role in neuronal signal transmission and memory formation. Disruptions in their function, however, contribute to various neurodevelopmental and neuropsychiatric disorders. Recently, novel variants in genes encoding NMDA receptor subunits have been identified in patients with these conditions.
