Kateryna Semenovykh<\/a> from the Laboratory of Biological Rhythms of IPHYS has received an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.purkynuvfond.cz\/publikacni-soutez\/oceneni-nejlepsich-praci-publikovanych-v-impaktovanych-casopisech-v-roce-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">award from the Purkyn\u011b Foundation Fund<\/a> for the best scientific paper published in 2025 in the category Theoretical disciplines. She received the award on 15 September at the Waldstein Palace in Prague.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>She was recognised for her first-author study,\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/fgu.cas.cz\/en\/2026\/02\/telomere-shortening-disrupts-the-regulation-of-daily-blood-pressure-changes-in-aging\/\">Tert Deletion Impairs Circadian Regulation of Blood Pressure in Male Spontaneously Hypertensive Rats<\/a><\/em>, published in the journal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ahajournals.org\/doi\/10.1161\/HYPERTENSIONAHA.125.25510\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hypertension<\/a>. The study investigates the relationship among the\u00a0Tert\u00a0gene, the biological clock, and blood pressure regulation.<\/p>\n<p>The findings showed that deletion of the\u00a0<em>Tert<\/em>\u00a0gene disrupts the natural day\u2013night variation in blood pressure. The study therefore contributes to a better understanding of how the biological clock affects blood pressure and how its disruption may be linked to hypertension and other cardiovascular diseases.<\/p>\n<p>The Purkyn\u011b Foundation Fund, established by the Czech Medical Association of Jan Evangelista Purkyn\u011b, supports early-career scientists and physicians under 35. The publication competition assesses not only the journal\u2019s impact factor, but also the overall quality of the submitted papers.
