Running wheels for voluntary physical activity can be integrated into the indirect calorimetry system. This combination enables assessment of the effects of voluntary physical activity on energy expenditure, as well as the degree (intensity) of physical activity during time windows when the mouse uses the wheel, at high time resolution (5 min) and across a wide range of ambient temperatures (6-35 \u00b0C), under natural conditions, i.e., in a normal cage and under normal circadian rhythm. 8 running wheels are available and can be placed in 8 cages.<\/p>\n

Unique features:<\/p>\n

\u2013 Designed to measure energy metabolism during voluntary physical aktivity and for the measurement of the level of voluntary physical activity in a breeding container under normal circadian rhythm. All data are integrated into the output data file.<\/p>\n

\u2013 High-precision time resolution (5 min) in the measuring chamber over a wide temperature range (6\u201335\u00b0C).<\/p>\n

\u2013 User-friendly and easy-to-use interface that allows full control of the system and data visualization.
\nThe device can only be reserved if you have this method included in a valid Project of Experiments. The sample text for the Animal Experiment Project is available on the Intranet in the section Animal Breeding \u2013 Experiment Projects<\/a>. Before submitting the Experiment Project, it is highly recommended to discuss the design of the experiments with the service department staff. If animals are to be measured repeatedly during the experiment, they may be housed in an on-site animal facility for the duration of the experiment.<\/p>\n

Evaluation of respiratory quotient, energy expenditure, physical activity in the cage and physical activity in running wheels, and food intake at 12 and 24 hour intervals, as well as evaluation of original data at 5 minute intervals, are included in the service \u2013 Price list available on the Intranet in the section Animal Husbandry \u2013 Animals and Services \u2013 Services Provided.<\/p>\n
