Substantial role of endothelin-1 (ET-1), and renin-angiotensin system (RAS) in the pathogenesis of both human and experimental CKD has been demonstrated. Recently, attention is being paid to the role of metabolites of cytochrome P-450 [hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid (20-HETE) and epoxyeicosatrienoic acids (EETs)] in CKD.
