Lecture "Translation and interdisciplinarity: A game changer as explemplified by kidney research"

In Berlin, a Collaborative Research Center "Renoprotection" sets out to improve kidney health. Scientists from various fields interact at all levels of research, from the molecular level over organoids, integrative systems, genetically modified organisms (including swine) to 9.4T MRI and clinical trials. The kidney gains increasing recognition as the organ currently limiting longevity. One third of the patients admitted to the Charité develop actute kidney injury (AKI)  within 250 days. This presentation aims at a general audience and will highlight advances made possible in AKI research and treatment by concrete examples.
