The NanoSight Pro instrument (Malvern Panalytical) is used for the analysis of particle size and concentration in suspensions. Its primary application lies in characterizing nanoparticles, such as extracellular vesicles, viruses, liposomes, or synthetic nanoparticles. The technology is based on detecting the light scattering of individual particles, whose movement is analyzed by tracking Brownian motion. This principle allows for determining particle size using nanoparticle tracking analysis (NTA).

The NanoSight Pro at our facility uses a 488 nm wavelength laser. Measurements are fast and straightforward—the device setup takes approximately five minutes, while measuring a single sample requires five to ten minutes, depending on the settings. One of the key advantages of the latest version of the instrument is the ability to recover the sample after measurement, enabling further analysis. The device does not require calibration.

The device software is user-friendly and intuitive, offering a choice of measurement methods (static or flow), measurement duration settings, data export in various formats, video visualization of tracked particles, and sample comparison capabilities.

The device was purchased as part of the National Institute for Research of Metabolic and Cardiovascular Diseases project (Programme EXCELES, ID Project No. LX22NPO5104) – Funded by the European Union – Next Generation EU.
