Clinical and preclinical study on Diabetic Neuropathy pain

Diabetic neuropathy (DN) is one of the most common and debilitating complications of diabetes mellitus. A significant proportion of patients with DN develop painful diabetic neuropathy (DPN), which severely impairs quality of life, with no good treatment options. Current diagnostic approaches lack measures for early detection, underscoring also the need for novel biomarkers to enable early and accurate identification of patients at risk. In collaboration with the Institute for Clinical and Experimental Medicine (IKEM) we are conducting clinical study on patients cohorts and preclinical study using rat model of diabetes induced by Streptozotocin in combination with high fat diet.
