Interaction of β-cells with other endocrine cells

Pancreatic β-cells work closely with other endocrine cells, particularly glucagon-producing α-cells and somatostatin-producing δ-cells. These interactions are crucial for optimizing insulin secretion and maintaining glucose homeostasis. In adulthood, their role becomes even more critical, particularly during the onset of type 2 diabetes, when various compensatory mechanisms come into play. These mechanisms are not yet fully understood, thus they are a key focus of our research.
