Investigating the role of circular RNAs and their m6A methylation in synaptic dysregulation in Alzheimer’s Disease

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are emerging as crucial regulators of synaptic plasticity and neuronal health. This project aims to uncover how circRNA expression and their m6A methylation patterns are altered in Alzheimer’s Disease (AD). By employing high-throughput RNA sequencing, m6A profiling, and advanced computational analyses, the study will identify circRNAs critical to synaptic function and elucidate their roles in AD pathology. Human iPSC-derived neuronal models and murine AD models will provide platforms for validating these findings.

Methods:

RNA sequencing and m6A RIP-seq.
Functional assays in human neuronal cultures and human brain organoid.
Synaptic and behavioral validation in murine models.

 

Impact:

The findings will shed light on the regulatory roles of circRNAs in synaptic dysfunction and identify novel therapeutic targets, advancing precision medicine in Alzheimer’s Disease.
