This study explores sex-specific variations in the metabolism of fatty acid esters of hydroxy fatty acids (FAHFAs), bioactive lipids with anti-inflammatory and anti-diabetic effects. The research focuses on the role of Androgen Dependent TFPI Regulating Protein (ADTRP) and investigates FAHFA levels across various tissues in male and female
mice. Results show higher FAHFA levels in female adipose tissues, which were inversely correlated with testosterone and Adtrp mRNA expression. ADTRP’s impact was minimal in both sexes. These findings highlight the importance of sex in FAHFA regulation and its potential role in modulating insulin sensitivity in adipocytes.
