Lecture reveals facts and myths about obesity

On Wednesday 23 April, another lecture from the series Human Body in Health and Disease took place in the building of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, this time on the topic “Obesity – the killer of the 21st century”. Leading Czech experts Jaroslav Kuneš (IPHYS) and Martin Haluzík (IKEM) presented the latest findings on the causes, consequences and treatment options for obesity. They presented not only scientific information but also practical views from clinical practice. The lecture offered a deeper understanding of this serious and increasingly important problem, which is growing in importance along with the growing share of overweight and obese people in the population. In the Czech Republic, more than a third of women (36%) and almost half of men (49%) are overweight, 21% of men and 18% of women are obese, and BMI values often increase with age.

Thank you to everyone who came and we look forward to seeing you at future events! A video of the lecture will soon be available on our youtube.
