Visit Brain Awarness Week with scientists from IPHYS, March 9–15, 2026

Scientists from IPHYS will again actively participate in the programme of the Czech Academy of Sciences’ outreach event Brain Awarness Week (9–15 March) and have prepared three lectures and one workshop that together present the brain as a dynamic organ of constant communication, information processing, and internal timing.

The lecture „Jak spolu nervové buňky komunikují?“ will take us into the world of synapses, where neurons exchange electrical and chemical signals that give rise to memory, learning, and thinking itself. The lecture „Jak mozek zpracovává zrakové podněty: dva zrakové proudy a jejich komunikace“ will show how the brain divides visual information into a pathway determining what we see and a pathway determining where it is located, and how their interplay enables smooth spatial orientation. The lecture “Načasování je klíč: Jak nás řídí biologické hodiny” will explain how the internal circadian system, in sync with the day-night cycle, affects sleep, attention, and performance. And the workshop “Rytmus života ve světle i ve tmě”, which is also suitable for children, will offer a practical look at how light and darkness shape our biological rhythms and how we can consciously work with them.

Together, these events reveal the brain as a finely tuned system in which communication, perception, and timing form a unified whole. You can find more information and additional lectures here. So do not hesitate and come learn about new discoveries concerning the most important control organ of the human body.
