The President of the Czech Academy of Sciences Radomír Pánek has recognised the importance of indispensable non-academic professions that make a crucial contribution to the operation of research institutions by awarding them Letters of Gratitude. Among this year’s awardees are two long-standing colleagues of IPHYS – MSc. Lucie Trajhanová from the Scientific Information Centre (Library) and Ms Daniela Šálková from the Laboratory of Adipose Tissue Biology.
MSc. Lucie Trajhanová has been associated with the IPHYS Library – for more than two decades. She began her professional career there in circulation services, later specialising in cataloguing and subsequently in processing publication outputs in the ASEP system, in which she has become a recognised expert. She has also been involved in training colleagues across CAS institutes for many years. Since 2020, she has been the head of the IPHYS Library and has played a key role in further developing its services for the research community. As the designated person for electronic information resources, she oversees all agenda items related to access to scholarly databases and issues connected with open access publishing.
Ms Daniela Šálková worked at IPHYS from 2001 and, after more than twenty years of service, retired at the end of 2025. Throughout her time at IPHYS, she was an indispensable member of the Laboratory of Adipose Tissue Biology research team, where she was involved in a wide range of experimental activities – from work with cell cultures and histological processing of tissues to various biochemical and molecular-biological methods. In addition, she ensured the day-to-day operation of the laboratory and contributed to its smooth running through many less visible yet essential tasks. Thanks to her diligence, reliability, and willingness to share her experience with new colleagues, she made a major contribution to the Laboratory’s successful projects and publication outputs.
Both awardees share a high level of expertise, precision, and long-term commitment, as well as a human approach that is indispensable to a good working environment. We would like to express our sincere thanks to both colleagues for their work for IPHYS and warmly congratulate them on this well-deserved recognition!
