Researchers‘ Night 2026: How Do Cells, Organs and the Whole Body Communicate?

On Friday, 25 September 2026, the IPHYS will again take part in Researchers’ Night. This year’s theme is communication, and we will show that it is far from being limited to people. Come and discover how cells pass information to one another, how different parts of the brain cooperate, and what happens when communication within our bodies does not work properly.

From 5:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., the campus of the Czech Academy of Sciences’ research institutes in Prague-Krč will host lectures, workshops, microscope demonstrations and interactive activities. You will learn, for example, how an ancient parasite became a mitochondrion – the cell’s “powerhouse”; how the brain processes what we see; and how scientists use modern microscopy and proteomic methods to investigate communication between cells. You can also try out Memory Park, where you can test your memory and spatial orientation.

We have not forgotten about young scientists, either. Children will be able to build their own cell model, solve science-themed challenges and embark on the mission Discover Your Body’s Secret Language! As they complete the activities, they can collect stamps on a special card. Those who visit at least four stations will receive a reward.

Researchers’ Night in Krč will also showcase research from the Institute of Microbiology, the Institute of Experimental Medicine and the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Czech Academy of Sciences.

Come and experience science first-hand and discover why effective communication matters for the functioning of our bodies and for our health.
