Researchers´ Night, which we organized for the first time on 27 September in the Campus of the Biomedical Institutes of the CAS in Krč, was attended by an incredible 750 people. With this event, we wanted to reveal to science fans of all ages the secrets of the functioning of laboratories and scientific work under the cover of night. In the laboratories of Light Microscopy and Laboratory of Biomathematics at the Institute of Physiology of the CAS, we wanted to show visitors that image data in biology allow to study the behaviour of living organisms from the smallest structures to large functional units. Interested visitors could explore the differences between different types of tissues or peek into the secrets of image reconstruction for scientific and medical purposes with a practical demonstration in 3D printing. They could also try counting cell nuclei in virtual reality. The possibilities of artificial intelligence were brought closer by a special program that estimates the age and even the mood of a person. Many thanks to the organisers and dozens of volunteers from all participating institutions (Institute of Physiology of the CAS, Institute of Microbiology of the CAS, Institute of Experimental Medicine of the CAS, Institute of Molecular Genetics of the CAS).
