IPHYS – Nencki – IOCB: A new tripartite collaboration for research on civilisation diseases

The third conference of scientists from the Institute of Physiology of the CAS and the Polish Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology took place on 1-2 October 2024 at the conference centre of the Academy of Sciences in Liblice. Representatives from the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the CAS newly participated in the conference. The aim of the meeting of these three top scientific institutions was to deepen existing common links, to find new opportunities for cooperation and to discuss ways to obtain joint international grant projects.

The common conference of all three institutions allowed to connect and expand the long-standing bilateral cooperation between IPHYS, Nencki Institute and IOCB and brought new links and complementary knowledge and methodological approaches in projects dealing with research and treatment options for neurological diseases, cardiovascular diseases and metabolic disorders caused by obesity or type 2 diabetes. The face-to-face meetings, presentations of results and discussions allowed more than five dozen scientists to better evaluate where research crosses over and where collaborations could be developed, which was one of the main objectives of the event.

At the end of the conference, the main representatives of the three institutions agreed to meet together on a regular basis and the next Czech-Polish tripartite conference is scheduled for June 2026 in Poland. Mutual contacts will also be deepened at the annual meetings of postgraduate students at the Nencki Institute.
