Biomedicine attracted more than 900 visitors to the Researchers’ Night

The Wealth of Biomedicine brought more than 900 visitors to the Krč campus for the Researchers’ Night, roughly a third more than last year! In cooperation with the Institute of Microbiology CAS and the Institute of Molecular Genetics CAS, we prepared a series of nine lectures that attracted a large audience both on site and online. We are planning to make the recordings available also to those who could not attend the talks. At IPHYS, both children and adults were most intrigued by the interactive exhibition The Wealth of the Human Body, where through quizzes, tests, and practical demonstrations visitors learned new insights into how the brain and heart function, what causes obesity, how our biological clock ticks, and how cells breathe. In another workshop called Memory Park, visitors tested their memory and spatial orientation skills in eight tasks. The exhibition The Wealth of Spatial (3D) Microscopy allowed them to explore muscles in virtual reality and learn more about the use of 3D printing for preoperative planning. As a keepsake, they could take home a glowing pendant in the shape of a pelvic bone, a bookmark shaped like an owl, or a mini mitochondrion, along with plenty of educational materials about the human body.
