Professor Alena Sumová ranked among the TOP Czech Women Scientists by Forbes

We are pleased to announce that Prof. PharmDr. Alena Sumová, DSc., Head of the Laboratory of Biological Rhythms at IPHYS, has been ranked among the TOP Czech Women Scientists for 2025 in the prestigious Forbes selection. This recognition reflects not only Prof. Sumová’s scientific excellence in the field of chronobiology but also her internationally recognized contribution to the research of biological rhythms and their significant impact on human health.

Prof. Sumová and her team have long focused on studying circadian mechanisms at both the molecular and systemic level, investigating how biological clocks in various organs are set and how their disruption contributes to the development of civilization diseases. Research in the Laboratory of Biological Rhythms delivers essential insights into the interconnection of temporal rhythms, behavior, and human physiology.

Last year, Prof. RNDr. Lucie Bačáková, DrSc., a leading expert in tissue engineering and transplantation and Head of the Laboratory of Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering, was also included among the Forbes Czech TOP Women Scientists. This further demonstrates the high quality of research carried out and continuously developed at IPHYS.

You can find more information about Prof. Sumová’s work and research topics on the Laboratory of Biological Rhythms webpage or in the IPHYS’s Press Releases:
