Presentation of the CarDia project results at the XXVIIIth Biochemistry Congress

The CarDia project has reached a significant milestone, which was its presentation at the XXVIII Biochemistry Congress organized by the Czech Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (CSBMB) from September 7–10, 2025, in Prague. As part of the scientific program, a dedicated session was devoted to the results of this project. The session, entitled “CarDia Track: Membranes, Bioenergetics,” took place on Monday, September 8, from 9:00 to 10:30 and was organized by M.D. Jan Kopecký, D.Sc., of IPHYS, coordinator of the Metabolism area within the CarDia project. In this session, three representatives from IPHYS – Petr Zouhar, PhD., Alena Pecinová, PhD. and Lukáš Alán, PhD. – presented their results. The session provided an overview of the latest insights into bioenergetic processes vital to the cardiovascular system and its diseases, focusing on molecular processes in muscle and adipose tissue that are crucial for the regulation of energy metabolism and metabolic flexibility. Additional IPHYS results of the project were presented in the form of poster communications. Dr. Blanka Holendová presented the project results in the form of a lecture in the section Redox Biochemistry and Sensors. The presentation at this prestigious biochemistry congress significantly increased the visibility of the project within both the domestic and international scientific communities. It also enabled the initiation of new collaborations for the further development of research focused on prevention and treatment of metabolic and cardiovascular diseases.
